WHY WE EXIST
Afro Baobab was created from a simple vision: to celebrate the richness, creativity, and diversity of African cultures in a way that feels alive, accessible, and relevant today.
Rooted in heritage and shaped for a global community, the hub invites students, organisations, families, and individuals to discover Africa through immersive experiences that inspire deeper understanding.

FOUNDER STORY

Born in France, raised in Guinea, and having lived across four continents, founder Saran Sow Barry experienced from an early age how culture shapes identity, belonging, and the way we connect with others.
Through her background in transformation and change management, she understood that meaningful change rarely happens through information alone — it happens through experience, emotion, and human connection.
What began as intimate cultural gatherings bringing people together through African stories, music, food, and creativity grew into Afro Baobab Cultural Hub & Gallery: a space where people do not simply discover culture — they experience it.
